My Vision is to Create 23 Elon Musks in India: Day Veerlapati
This is the incredible story of a man of indomitable spirit, Day Veerlapati – an Indian-American businessman and philanthropist who hailed from a humble household nestled in the southeastern part of the Indian subcontinent. His formative years were a bed of thorns.
But he not just overcame economic hurdles but also accomplished academic excellence that laid the foundation of his success. After completing engineering at the premier institute, he entered the professional world, where he got an opportunity to travel to the land of opportunity. With his grit and academic excellence, he landed in the US; the rest is history.
Such was the turn of fortune, in four decades, he became a successful entrepreneur and his organization S2Tech ranked as an Inc. 5000 company. He also founded a non-profit organization Fortune Fund to continue his philanthropist work. Now he is on a mission to give back to society by creating opportunities for the talents in the rural areas.
I would like to nurture & create entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. South Africa, with a 60 million population, created one Elon Musk. India can create 23 Elon Musk. Further, Elon Musk created a wealth of $1 trillion with Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company. If we create 23 Elon Musk in India, the $23 trillion worth of wealth that will be created will be more than the United States GDP of $21 trillion
Day Veerlapati grew up in a village, so he understands the challenges of rural areas. Therefore, he wants to uplift the less fortunate from rural Indian communities. He strongly believes in bridging the gap between rural & urban economies. His organization S2Tech provides educational resources, funded by voluntary donations, through its non-profit organization – Fortune Fund.
His vision led him to join hands with Moonpreneur, a Silicon Valley edtech company that is on a mission to ignite the spark of entrepreneurship and innovation under its Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development Program (ELDP). Moonpreneur is working closely with Day to create the next wave of entrepreneurs.
In just one year, over 100 students from Isha Vidhya schools, located in the rural parts of Southern India, were trained by industry leaders, entrepreneurs, TEDx Speakers, and more under ELDP.
The mission got a major boost when eminent personalities and educationists like Prof. Hemachandra Reddy, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Council Of Higher Education; Dr. D Chakrapani, ex-IAS; Prof. K. Raja Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of SV University; and Prof. Duvvuru Jamuna, Vice-Chancellor of SPMVV University, joined it.
Day in collaboration with Moonpreneur sowed the seed of nurturing entrepreneurs in Andhra Pradesh and today ELDP is creating the next wave of entrepreneurs in various parts of the country by collaborating with the premium institutes – the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
Thanks to Day, Moonpreneur has partnered with IIT Mandi, IIT Roorkee, IIM Lucknow, IIT Guwahati, IIM-V FIELD, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) and IIM Kozhikode.
This is just the beginning. The dream is to nurture a huge number of talents and bring them to the global forum.
